MEETING A FAMOUS FISHERMAN-VLAD EVANOFF
In the latter part of the 1980s, Judy and I were browsing through a local K-mart. We were in the book section browsing through some books. I was in the fishing book section when a elederly gentleman tapped me on the shoulder and started speaking to me. He pointed to a hardcover book with two authors name on the cover. He said that he wrote the book. I asked; which name are you. He pointed to Vlad Evanoff. I pondered over that name for a few seconds in my mind and then said to him, I KNOW THAT NAME AND VERY WELL INDEED. Mr. Evanoff, I used to read about your exploits about surfcasting all over Long Island in The Salt Water Sportsman in the 1960s on catching Striped Bass. I told him I fished Long Island with a boad etc, etc. We then parted ways, but his name still rang a bell of familiarity. Why, because I found out looking in my directory in my neighborhood where I lived that he lived in my community of attached homes too. I would occasionally see him but he has long since moved away.
