The last time I fished at Orient Point was in the late 1960s. What a great fishing spot. You could call it the "2nd Montauk". Weather was the killer to a day of fishing at Orient Point. I went on a few flounder trips and one Fluke trip back then. What great fishing. I did not go for blackfish(tautog) there. It is also a great striped bass area too.

These photos that I picked up on the net were taken in 2003. The fisherman here have caught fluke(summer flounder) and blackfish(tautog). It was good to see that nearly 40 years later that things are looking good fishingwise at the POINT. Darn, but those summer flounders look so handsome. Tautog, a member of the wrasse family are good eating . They taste much like flounder.
